Sawchuk, MT (ASCP)
Megan Sawchuk is an associate director in the Standards Interpretation Group at The Joint Commission. In this role, she conducts Periodic Performance Reviews and provides interpretation of all Joint Commission standards with a special emphasis on clinical laboratory and point-of-care standards. Other activities include serving as an internal consultant to other Joint Commission departments in the development and revision of standards and survey process, complaint review, and providing support for ongoing accreditation services and special projects.
Ms. Sawchuk is certified as a Joint Commission surveyor for both the laboratory and hospital programs, serves as faculty for annual surveyor training and other education programs, performs speaking engagements, and represents The Joint Commission as liaison to various professional organizations including CMS, FDA and CAP. Before joining The Joint Commission in 2001, Ms. Sawchuk held a variety of clinical laboratory positions. With over twenty years in the laboratory profession, her experience includes laboratory management, outreach services, information systems, technical training, and support of professional laboratory organizations. Ms. Sawchuk is affiliated with the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) and is certified as a Medical Technologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
