"Leadership Communication for Point-of-Care Coordinators" Essential Skills for Dealing Successfully with Anyone

Led by Rick Import, “Leadership Communication” provided attendees with techniques and tips to improve their communications with their supervisors and operators using real-life issues in the lab and on the floor. Meeting Host Vida Montgomery (right) of USC University Hospital demonstrated the difference between 'one-way' and 'two-way' communication in an an exercise where they had to draw a series of geometric shapes based on her instructions.
In a role play between a device operator and POCC, Dail Deitrick, Long Beach VAMC, far left verbalized what the operator was saying to a POCC in a compliance issue discussion with Mike Bennet, also of Long Beach VAMC; while Pat Lapointe, Centinela Medical Center, 2nd from left, and Susana Samson, Valley Care, Olive View Medical Center, 2nd from right, told us what they were really thinking!
