Summary:

POCT for Infectious Diseases is emerging from a time when most POC tests were inferior to laboratory-based methods, to a new era of molecular and other emerging POC technologies which promise to provide near-laboratory-quality results at POC.  Currently-available POC for infections will be summarized; two major examples, HIV and influenza, discussed in more depth, and emerging technologies reviewed.

Objectives:

After completing this webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Summarize current POCT for infections

  • Discuss critical issues relating to POC HIV testing
