The 2008 AACC Annual Meeting will be held

right up the road in Washington, DC this summer

and to get there, your VAPOCC Network is looking into

chartering a bus to take you up and back!

While we explore the details, we need your help in determining how many people will be going and get a consensus on which day we should go (see the survey form below). Although costs will determine if we go one or two days, a number of our vendor supporters have already graciously indicated they would contribute financially. This is a great opportunity see what's new in POCT, network with POCCs from around the country, check out poster sessions, and visit vendors at the Clinical Lab Expo (free expo only passes are available, however there are fees to attend workshops and some sessions, visit click here to visit the Annual Meeting for details). At our VAPOCC meeting we decided on either or both of the following days:

Tuesday, July 29 – Clinical Lab Expo and CPOCT Mixer:

The Clinical Lab Expo opens at 9:30am and runs until 5:00pm.  At 6:30pm is a mixer hosted by the AACC Critical and Point of Care Testing Division (CPOCT). It’s not only a great mix and mingle event, but it’s when the 2008 POCC of the Year winner will be announced. It’s also FREE! If this date is chosen, we’re thinking of leaving mid-morning and returning late in the evening.

Thursday, July 31 - Clinical Lab Expo and POCC Forum:

The Clinical Lab Expo opens at 9:30am and closes at 2:00pm.  From 8:00am until 10:00am the AACC CPOCT Division is hosting its annual POC Forum breakfast. This event draws nearly 200 people annually, is usually sold out, and always includes a great lineup of speakers. Reservations are required and there is a $15.00 charge per person. If this date is chosen, we’ll be leaving very early in morning and returning early in the evening.
