Speakers

Kim Skala,

MT- Clinical Specialist, Critical Care and Point of Care, Instrumentation Laboratory-

Ms. Skala has a Bachelor’s degree from Augustana College and over 30 years of laboratory experience, including 14 years as a point of care coordinator. Ms. Skala has spoken at AACC International and annual meetings and was an author of the 2014 AACC POC Specialist Certificate Program. She has been published in the Journal of Point of Care Testing, Clinical Lab News, Advance, and MLO. She lectures on POCT for RUSH University and received the AACC Point of Care Coordinator of the Year award in 2011.

Thomas I. Koshy, Ph.D.- Senior Director, North American Scientific Affairs Alere

Dr. Koshy’s experience covers many areas including transplant, endocrine/thyroid, pregnancy/fertility, hepatitis/retrovirus, and cardiac diagnostics. He has worked in R&D, Manufacturing, Technical Support, and Quality and Scientific Affairs. Dr. Koshy has been an author of the CLSI Guidance document: POCT09: Selection Criteria for POCT Devices and currently serves on the CAP POC Committee.
